Warm Welcome from Chiang Rai!
In the midst of political unrest, Baan Farm Children's Home (formerly called CPS Dormitory) continues to give underprivileged tribal and Thai children the opportunity to study in a safe and loving environment, while they are away from their parents.
We are excited about the possibilities for this new school year. We continue to receive news of concerned people who want to support children here at Baan Farm Children's Home (BFCH). We are very grateful for your willingness to support the children. There are still children who have applied for financial aid but haven't received support. Please check our Support a Child page. We continue to trust God and ask Him for wisdom for the future. We are committed to this project and expect God to do great things. Thanks for your prayers and support!
An invitation for 2010-2011 school year...
As a Social Welfare boarding school, we are interested in having individuals, teams or youth groups come and help out. English, sports, dance or drama activities are always welcome! As a guideline, we prefer teams to stay at least two (2) weeks to be most effective. Building relationships is the key to reaching children for Jesus. We start with orientation and end with debriefing. For individuals or teams coming for a shorter time, we can modify the itinerary.
We are thankful for computers which are now being used in teaching the children to type in Thai and English plus some other programs.
Support a child...
Right now we have 21 children sponsored and are looking for 57 more people to sponsor a child. For just $30 (or 20 Euro) per month, you can help a child to live here at Baan Farm Children's Home and to receive an education through the 9th grade. Check here for more information!
Mission Statement...
Baan Farm Children's Home exists to reach non-Christian elementary and junior high school students for Jesus, edifying and equipping them to grow in their faith by honoring God, caring for one another, discovering their gifts, and demonstrating God's love by serving others.
Goals...
- to witness to students and their families
- to establish the young believers in faith through worship, fellowship and discipleship
- to equip the believers so they can serve others
- to improve the quality of life for dormitory students
Objectives...
To measure the progress of our goals for the student we have implemented a wide variety of regular structured evangelistic and discipleship activities.
- We conduct daily devotions and regular worship times in each dormitory.
- Our goal is to have most fifth, sixth and junior high school students voluntarily study the Bible on Wednesday nights.
- We clearly present the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- We have opportunities for students to lead worship and give testimonies on Friday nights.
- We encourage students to invite their non-Christian friends to activities.
- We assign student leaders to oversee younger students.
- We have student helpers assist staff during Sunday School for first to sixth grade.
- We encourage participation.
- We conduct at least one camp each year in cooperation with international teams.
- We expose student leaders to the larger body of Christ by attending local churches and conferences.
To measure the progress of witnessing to the children's families for Christ, our team visits several Hill Tribe villages each year. We have developed relationships with many of the children's families. Wherever possible we have worked hand in hand with local churches serving in the children's ministry, teaching and doing open-air evangelistic outreaches with challenges to make a decision for Jesus t the community.
Dormitory life will be better when there is an improvement of the facilities, adequate supervision and better quality of food.
